Simple Habits for Better Sleep
Most advice about sleep is either obvious or impractical. Here are a few changes that are neither — small enough to actually keep.
Keep a wind-down window
Twenty minutes before bed, dim the lights and put the phone somewhere you can't easily reach it from the bed. The specific activity matters less than doing roughly the same thing every night.
Watch the afternoon, not just the evening
Caffeine after 3 pm and a late, heavy meal both tend to affect sleep more than people realise — even on nights that feel otherwise fine.
Get outside once a day
Even ten minutes of daylight, ideally earlier in the day, helps keep your body's own rhythm on track.
Let one bad night be one bad night
Trying to "fix" sleep by staying in bed later the next morning often backfires. Getting up at a consistent time, even after a rough night, tends to help more over a week.
