What to ask before a new cut
A few questions before a significant cut can save a surprise afterwards — most stylists welcome them, since they make the consultation more useful for both sides.
What will this look like as it grows out?
Some cuts hold their shape well for months; others need a touch-up every few weeks to keep their line. Worth knowing before you commit.
How much daily styling will it need?
A cut that looks striking freshly styled can be a different story on a rushed morning. Ask what the everyday version looks like, not just the finished photo.
Does this suit my hair's texture?
A style that works beautifully on straight hair can behave very differently on wavy or curly hair. A good consultation accounts for your hair's natural texture, not just the reference photo.
Can we start conservative?
If you're unsure, asking to keep a little more length than the reference photo is a reasonable, reversible way to test a new direction.
