Looking After Your Mouth After a Procedure

By Dr. Leem Cyprus

Whatever the procedure, a few simple habits in the days afterward help things settle comfortably.

Stick to soft foods early on

Softer foods are easier on a treated area while it settles, especially during the day or two right afterward.

Avoid very hot or very cold

A treated area can be more sensitive to temperature for a short while after a procedure.

Keep up gentle oral hygiene

Continue brushing normally, being gentle around the treated area rather than skipping it entirely.

Follow your dentist's specific instructions

Any instructions given for your specific procedure take priority over general advice like this.

This information is general and not a substitute for an examination by a dentist.
